Animalistic Instincts

If you were wondering where I've been for the past few months, let me say that I was away enjoying the usual roller-coaster ride of life. It’s been sometime since I last posted. I've taken time away from the social convention to rediscover the core values of life. I may have discovered some, yet I may have not discovered what I've wanted to discover. Let me leave it to that point and I will write on it soon. I had some interesting experiences over the last few months which I wanted to share with all of my loyal fans. I hope those few people who've been reading my posts have not abandoned me! Anyhow, one of the main reasons for me to write this happened a few days ago. A friend of mine called me recently and his exact words were “aren't you writing anymore? It was nice to see your point of view on things”. This actually helped me realise that people do read my posts and they do see a different perspective on it. This made me believe more in my ability to help people look at a different side to this. Also help make a change. I know this is a longer post than my earlier ones, but then, I have a lot of explaining to do. Then again some may feel I have changed my way of writing. Well, that is something I am experimenting, all the time. You will get used to it. Just keep reading.

I had so many thoughts over the past few months which I felt I should post about, but then nothing really came across to be noteworthy. Finally, I have decided to write something which I think is noteworthy. Some may call it controversial. Some may call it current. Many call it as being overrated in today’s society Yes, I am talking about sex. This is a topic which a lot of people in my part of the world do not really want to openly talk about. If you ask people why they do not want to talk about it, they do not have any answer. Then again no one really wants to talk about it in the open. If you talk to people in confidential, everyone does have an opinion about it and would like to openly discuss about it. I did a small experiment today. I asked a random group of young adults how they feel about premarital sex. You know what I got as a response? A moment of silence! I heard people talking in small groups (not loud enough, so I could hear any). Some smiled as if they knew what I was talking about and approved it. Some had the expected surprise and that afterthought of 'I think this is inappropriate and this is an awkward moment'. Well these are the usual expressions for a set of individuals who are born and raised in a society which believes, openness is a crime. We still have not got over the concept of an evolving world. People would engage in a sexual encounter behind closed doors but will come out and look down on people who actually express themselves. I am not trying to take a side on this matter. It is important that we keep an open mind and discuss some of these matters. Do not let your judgement, cloud your critical reasoning on this. Just take few minutes, and think to yourself, see which viewpoint you would like to take. Everyone has their reasons to agree or disagree. All I am suggesting is that you keep an open mind and think about these matters.

By saying all this, we need to bring a mental revolution to this society. We need to insist that sex is simply a biological need an animal needs to fulfil (bear in mind that we are animals too and we have the same needs). It is not a crime to talk about it, neither a sin. Stop looking down on people who claim to have satisfied their animalistic instincts. Start exploring ways how you could satisfy your own without disgusting others. Also know that just because you have satisfied your needs that will not make you a superior creature in this vicious cycle of life.

Just an afterthought, I heard some amazing news today, which melted my heart. I was fortunate enough to talk to someone who has done an amazing sacrifice. Something that anyone would think again, before they actually go ahead with it (trust me I would think about it). To donate an organ of yours to someone else, would take an enormous amount of courage as well as tremendous mental strength. Even you have all this factors with you; to go ahead with the idea is amazing and show the selflessness of the individual. These are the rare individuals who remind us the true value of life. These are the very humans who teach us the lessons of sacrifice. I am proud to say that 'I actually met an amazing human being'

Thinking

I find it difficult sometimes to concentrate but I do get over it, but by then sometimes what I was doing may be long gone pass me. I still do struggle to understand why we as humans tend to judge certain situations in life and generalise things. Are we going against to what Darwin said in his evolution theory? Can’t humans evolve? Can’t they do things differently and achieve the same results? Or come up with even better results? What most people tend to do is evaluate life based on what they know or what they’ve heard about. We have completely forgotten that people are different. We no longer see this and this is why all the generalisations are happening and this is why we classify people and situations.

There is a saying that always haunts my thoughts which I heard from a particular drama. That is “We are captives or our identities living in prisons of our own creation”. The first time I got my ears on this, I realised how powerful this statement was. It just opened my mind to a whole new level of thinking. I just said to myself that aren’t we all doing the same thing. We are the ones who create the world around us and we determine who we are, what we do, decide on who we associate with and some of the things which we create and build our world around it. Have we ever wondered whether we have the right to determine how others think and behave! Generation after generation of humans have passed on the knowledge of how to love and survive and if you go against it by some means they label you as a destroyer of the culture, heritage, religion or even race. Is it fair to restrict individual’s free thinking and knowledge or is it fair to restrict people at all from exploring themselves? These are some questions we need to answer as individuals and as a collective society. My thoughts might be wrong or might be argued if you think so after reading this you should ask yourself one question. Did I just restrict another man’s imagination?

Time

It has been sometime since my last article. Lots of things have happened since then. Most importantly time has passed and that time cannot be reverted back.
Have you ever wondered what you would do if you could go back in time. Are you going to change all those decisions you feel bad about and that made you regret? Are you going to erase all those days you cried and paint it all over with laughter and joy?
Well, If you could do that then there’ll only be laughter and joy in this world and never, sorrow and sadness. But is it really worth living in a world where we only have one emotion? Won’t we get bored and feel more frustrated that we would want to go back in time and change it all over again?
One thing that you and I need to realise is that life needs joy and at the same time we need sorrow as well. These are the things that keep us going in life.
I was a firm believer in luck but at the same time I believed that we created our own luck. I was so adamant about this until something strange happened to me! Now I think there is something called ‘Chance’ or some call it ‘Destiny’. True, it can be manipulated by our own actions but there is a certain element of unknown that helps us from behind or drags us to darkness but all these have a reason and it sure does wonders.
This is why we need to remember that going back in time won’t change anything. Whatever happened has happened due to some reason. It may be for good, it may be for bad but all I could say is that we have deserved that, through our actions and we should accept it without going against it.

Learning to live

Mandela once said that “education is the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world”. By looking at the modern world, I highly doubt this statement. Even though I use this statement day in day out to convince people that education is important, I myself doubt that the real value of education is still not uncovered. Learning is a part of education as many scholars believe. Learning is changing behavior and patterns of living. Renowned scholars have researched on experimental learning and concluded that it is an integral part of changing behavior. We all do experimental learning and it begins from our childhood. The best example for this is the behavior of children. A little kid falls down while trying to run after a dog, little thing starts crying because he hurts his leg. Next time when he runs after another animal he will recall back his past experience of hurting his leg and will try to avoid the pain by not running after it too fast. We identify and name this experimental learning. I started questioning myself the point in people gaining educational qualifications without learning how to live life. What has happened to experimental learning?

Learning to live differs from living to learn. How many of us actually live to learn. I am sure that most of us learn to live and we take life as it comes. We never consider the fact that there's a whole new world waiting to be found. A little after thought came to me after reading a novel today, written by a man who has heaps of educational qualifications and buckets of knowledge. It made me question myself, the values of education and how our mind reacts to certain situations when we are put to the sword. I was shattered about the bitter truth uncovered in the novel. It was expressed in a very dramatic way to capture the audience as well as to hide a little truth to the story and expose it as fiction. I did notice that the writer tried his level best to leave out emotional attachment but failed miserably in certain acts. His unconscious mind overtook his natural thinking. Mind is a strange thing, and more we try to control it the more it will act on its own. It is important to people to learn how to control the mind because of the very fact, that mind governs every action carried out by humans.

The bottom line of the story is to note that education is important to everyone and learning is the key to education since we need to adjust patterns of behaviors. Try to work on yourself, improve your skills and develop your thinking to serve better. Stop judging individuals and try to work on your own self. After all who are we to judge people, when we all have skeletons in our own closets.

Life as we know it…

It is strange isn’t it when you think about life. The hopes and dreams that we had for ourselves when we were little. If we reflect back on the years gone by can we be happy? We all dream of a fairy tale but it won’t be long when reality hits hard on us and when it does, it will make you understand that there is a difference between fantasy and reality.

People sometimes try to achieve something greater and some try to survive. I always tried to understand why we do this to ourselves and I never found an answer to that query. It is quite strange that for some people this is not even a question but for others like me it’s always a problem. I always wanted to find this truth and find answers why we suffer so much in life to achieve something that is far beyond us. Then again you sometimes believe that this is what helps you to live. You may have a different opinion to this than I do. Take few minutes to think. Is this what you wanted to achieve all this time. Is this what you wanted to become all your life and what you have dreamed of. Look at where you are right now. Have you even got closer to the person who you wanted to become?

Life will leave you with a lot of unanswered questions and it will give you a reason to smile, as well as a reason to cry. The success to life will always depend on how you look at things and how you handle different situations. Have you ever noticed that little children show only two emotions? When they want something they cry and when they get excited about something or when they are happy, they smile; this is a pure reaction of an uncluttered mind, a mind that is not corrupted and has little capacity to react and response. But as we grow older we develop other senses and our mind tries to capture everything that we lay our eyes on. Even though we are unable to process it at any given point it will be stored in our subconscious mind and will come back to us in the form of dreams. Now you know that why some dreams have such similarity to our real life.

If we want to identify what life is we can write pages and pages, it will be endless but still we will not be able to uncover the real truth about it. The most important factor that we need to realize is that life is something that will always give us regrets and happiness. We need to control our emotions and think like a child. We need to have an uncluttered mind to understand life and to deal with life. Always look at the positives that arise from a situation and keep smiling. Remember it’s something that you can give free of charge. Never regret over things that you have not achieved but always have faith in yourself to achieve bigger and better things. I will leave you with a saying that I always believed in “Do what you love and love what you do” and life will simply be a heaven.
